Cle Sports Awards: Jaylen Harris Named High School Athlete Of The Year
The Greater Cleveland Sports Commission handed out 7 awards at the 17th annual Greater Cleveland Sports Awards. The first award of the night went to Cleveland Heights High School football player, Jaylen Harris. He was named High School Athlete of the Year after finishing the 2016 season as Ohio’s top-rated wide receiver. Harris has committed to play football at The Ohio State University.
The Collegiate Athlete of the Year Award was presented to the John Carroll Football team. The Blue Streaks won the award after beating Mount Union to end the Purple Raiders 112 game win streak. The win also gave John Carroll their first outright Ohio Athletic Conference Championship and a trip to the Division III football playoffs. John Carroll lost in the national semifinals to a team from Wisconsin. via Cleveland.com
