East Tech Boys Win Fourth Straight Senate League Title

Congrats to the East Tech Scarabs for winning their fourth straight Senate League title.

The final seconds ticked down Friday night in the Senate League championship, and Tyshaun Howard easily put in the final two points that sealed East Tech’s fourth straight title.

Teammates embraced him, a mass of brown and gold jerseys at center court celebrated the Scarabs’ 71-66 boys basketball win against Glenville.

East Tech (14-5) has met the Tarblooders (16-4) four straight times in this game. Each one is more difficult, coach Brett Moore said. This one came a year after Markell Johnson — now playing at North Carolina State — scored 47 to key a win against their city rivals.

“All of them are hard in their own right, but it’s getting more and more difficult,” Moore said, “because there’s a target on our back.”

This time with a mostly new squad, except for Howard and a select few.

One of the newcomers, Rhodes transfer Isaiah Washington, scored 41 points as a new lead guard. READ MORE
