Garfield Heights Basketball Standout Willie Jackson Verbally Commits To Missouri [VIDEO]
Garfield basketball standout has decided to play college basketball at Missouri.
He made the announcement during a news conference at the high school Wednesday afternoon. A 6-foot-6 forward, Jackson helped Garfield Heights reach the Division I state semifinals in March. The Bulldogs were 24-4 last season with Jackson their leading scorer as a junior.
Jackson’s final considerations were Missouri, Boston College, Akron, Cleveland State, Wichita State and Temple.
First, Jackson still has a senior season left with the Bulldogs.
He returns along with 6-4 senior guard Frankie Hughes and junior point guard Marreon Jackson, both also fielding Division I college offers. Along with returning junior Shawn Christian, their run last season lasted until a 60-57 loss to Westerville South in Columbus.
“I’m coming back (to Columbus) regardless,” Jackson said in March after the setback. “I don’t care who they put on the schedule in front of me. I’m coming back.”
With his college destination set, Jackson has one less thing on his mind while pursuing that goal.
