Height: 6-foot-9
Gaffney established himself at Villa Angela-St. Joseph the last two seasons. He made two trips to Columbus, helping the Vikings win a Division III state crown last March. He transferred this summer to Garfield Heights and enjoyed a breakout year on the AAU circuit, picking up offers from major programs across the country. Kansas, Pittsburgh, Georgetown, Florida and Ohio State all offered scholarships to Gaffney. He is ranked as high as 19th nationally by 247Sports.com.

Cohill committed in September to Dayton. He and his coaches believe it will allow him to play more freely this season, without the distraction of weekend visits or worrying about scouts in the stands. He already led Holy Name to two regional appearances in his three seasons, and averaged 22.9 points as a junior.

To call Higgins the heart and soul of this VASJ team might be an understatement. The Vikings’ two recent runs to the Division III state finals, including last season’s championship, came with Higgins heading the effort at point guard. Without Gaffney in the lineup and a move up to Division II, Higgins leads an inexperienced group

Carry will be a four-year starter for Tony DeCesare’s Comets, leading them to their most prominent run since Dallas Lauderdale left for Ohio State. He is a West Liberty commit and had been one of the area’s most promising guards before knee injuries slowed his progress more than a year ago. Carry has picked up his step after averaging 19.0 points as a junior. Leading a guard-laden lineup, he could make bigger colleges regret not pursuing him.

Offensively, Nance is a pick-and-pop specialist and averaged 17.0 points as a junior. Defensively, he is one of the area’s most skilled shot blockers. The son of former Cavaliers great Larry Nance and brother of Larry Lance Jr. of the Los Angeles Lakers, this Nance averaged 12.0 rebounds, 4.0 blocks and 2.5 assists last season. He is a Northwestern commit.
