An early lead wasn’t nearly enough for Mentor, which saw hopes for a first state football title dashed decisively in a 56-28 loss to Pickerington Central in Friday’s Division I showdown at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium.
Pickerington Central was fast and physical, dominating the game after Mentor built a 14-7 lead midway through the first quarter.
“We had some chances early in the first half and then we kind of turned it over with two quick ones which we knew you couldn’t do,” said Mentor coach Steve Trivisonno. “Then we had a shot in the third to try to keep it close, but physically they wore us down the stretch.” READ MORE
